Detroit Libraries to Remain Open
Good news, people of Detroit! Not only will the librarians in the city get to keep their jobs—the citizens of Detroit will get to keep their libraries. Previously, 18 libraries were scheduled to be shut down, resulting in heavy losses of resources and jobs in the city; now officials say that a math error was to blame, and the issue has since been corrected.
Even if no error were to blame, though, the closing of that many libraries is absolutely criminal! Citizens deserve the privilege to have access to information, reading material, printing mechanisms, and all else that the library offers—and until every person has a computer and Internet at home, they should be considered a right rather than said privilege.
